Lifting up the voices of small community-based firms who provide grounded insights that contribute to lasting, positive change
We believe that change processes are best designed, led, and understood by those who are closest to them.
About us
We are contributing to a movement that seeks to center small and solo community-based evaluation firms and the deep and nuanced insights they offer.
Through this work, we seek to help ensure that efforts to promote change are contextually relevant and responsive to the real needs of the people they serve.
The Strengthening Evaluation Contracting Partnerships Initiative (SECPI) started in October 2023 with the goal of strengthening partnerships between funders and small community-based evaluation firms. We know that, when these firms share their unique understandings of context, community, and culture, it helps those investing in their communities respond more effectively to the needs of those they serve.
Since our launch, we have created a platform for funders and evaluators to share and reflect on how their contracting practices affect their partnerships and their ability to access the learning they need.
We are progressing toward our goal through webinars, publications, conference presentations, working groups, one-on-one conversations, and linking to other like-minded initiatives.
"We had the pleasure of working with SECPI at the launch event for our paper on Advancing locally led evaluations: Practical insights for humanitarian contexts. They shared their expertise on how to make equitable partnerships in evaluation a reality through practical and easy to implement actions. Their work aligns well with our vision for locally led evaluations in humanitarian contexts where local evaluators are not only seen as in-country data collectors but are also recognized as capable and competent evaluators and leaders in the evaluation ecosystem."

We are a team committed to centering the work of community-based evaluators.
